Description
Exterior view of the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, located at 540 S. Commonwealth Ave. It appears that the finials, damaged by the 1994 earthquake, are ready to be re-positioned; a large hydraulic crane can be seen parked behind two finials in wooden "crates". The finial is so big that, when resting on its side, the base is taller than either of the two men standing next to it. The church, historic cultural monument #706, was designed by architects Allison and Allison and built from 1930-1931. Photo dated: August 19, 2005. See image 00063173 for additional view of finials.
