Description
View of the El Capitan Theater at 1735 Vine Street in Hollywood (not to be confused with the more well-known theater of the same name and age on Hollywood Boulevard). The theater marquee advertises "Ken Murray's Blackouts of 1948" - a variety show. The tall building at left is the Knickerbocker Hotel.
Title devised by cataloger; date supplied by cataloger based on the signs for "Ken Murray's Blackouts of 1948." This theater originally opened in 1927 as the Hollywood Playhouse and changed ownership and names several times over the years, most notably as "The Palace" and now the "Avalon."
