Looking down along this 95-inch welded steel penstock, recently completed Owens Gorge Power Plant no. 3 is seen on the bank of the river. The river will be diverted through the penstock to turn the rotor of the 37,500-kilowatt generator. The switching rack to the right will start this power on its 258-mile journey over the now-completed 230,000-volt line to Los Angeles. Photo date: June 20, 1951.
