Photograph article dated August 25, 1962 partially reads, "Cuba to Canoga Park is the distance from tyranny to freedom for a slender 32-year-old Cuban accountant newly arrived in the Valley. Othon Machado, 32, his wife Gilda, a four-month-old daughter Jeanette, and two sons, Jesus, 5, and Eduardo, 9, arrived from Miami two weeks ago under sponsorship of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Canoga Park. With them came a nephew, Hugo Ripoll, 18, and a niece, Barbara, 15. A public accountant with nine years experience in Cuba, Machado still hasn't found a job in the Valley." Pictured are (left to right) Eduardo, Barbara, Gilda, baby Jeanette, Jesus (at front), Othon and Hugo.
