Description
This dramatic view of the locomotive “C.P. Huntington” was taken at the 1926 opening of the Southern Pacific Depot at Fourth and I streets. Resting behind the Huntington is the newly built Southern Pacific engine number 4337. Visitors are shown walking around the engines, and passenger cars can be seen to the left, on the other side of the platform. The “C.P. Huntington” was the third locomotive purchased by the Central Pacific Railroad, behind the “Governor Stanford” as the first, and “Pacific” as the second.
