Description
The oak tree is reputed to be 4,000 years old according to an interview with teacher Laura Tarver. Pauline Pearson, library researcher, noted that the original school was built in 1873. The newly modernized library has a picture of the original one room building. The oak tree was excellent for climbing and lynching, if legend is to be believed.
