Description
Troops wait in the rain at the Camp Stoneman pier in Pittsburg, California with assignments chalked on their helmets. This photo is part of a series documenting Williams’ shipping out to Korea. The journey that started in Pittsburg, where a ferry would carried troops to San Francisco, continued on the USS General M. C. Meigs for the two-week voyage to Japan and then on to Korea.
