Photograph was edited for publication purposes The Douglas A-26 Invader, built by Douglas Aircraft during World War II, was redesignated the B-26 from 1948-1965. Photograph caption dated March 11, 1964 reads, "Shown here are several fuselages of old B-26 bombers of World War II fame which are being rebuilt for use in Viet Nam by On Mark Engineering Co. at Van Nuys Airport. Planes shown here are stripped of wings and rudders." The article partially reads, "On Mark Engineering Co., located opposite the idle Lockheed missile plant at Van Nuys Airport, is fast at work beefing up and modernizing World War II B-26 bombers. The twin-engine, propeller - driven attack bombers, built by Douglas, are earmarked for use in the jungles of South Viet Nam against Communist Viet Cong guerrillas...The Air Force chose On Mark because of its experience in modifying surplus B-26 bombers for executive use."; See images #00117541 through #00117542 for all photos in this series.
