Exterior view of the Griffith Park Observatory and sculptures on September 13, 1937. Dedicated in September 1934, the observatory was designed by Archibald Garner, and the Astronomers' Monument sculpture by Archibald Garner, George Stanley, Gordon Newell, Roger Noble Burnham, and Arnold Foerester. The monument immortalizes Hipparchus, Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Newton, and Herschel.
