View of Bright Star Church of God in Christ, located at 9622 Beach Street in Los Angeles. It shows a single-story corner church, painted light peach with a red roof and a red awning over the main entrance. On either side of the awning and above it are white crosses. The church has a black security fence surrounding it, with residential homes on the left and behind the church. The late Elder Wesley & Pauline Dickson established Bright Star C.O.G.I.C. (Church of God in Christ) more than 50 years ago. Although verso on photograph states that this church building was formerly known as Third Free Methodist Church, it does not say when the current church transferred in to this structure. The Church of God in Christ, organized in November of 1907, is commonly known as being Holiness or Pentecostal in nature. The Church of God in Christ has grown from ten congregations in 1907, to the largest Pentecostal group in America to date, with membership escalating from three million in 1973, to an estimated 5.2 million members in 64 countries by 1997. Photo dated: April 2007.
