Description
Caption on reverse of mount: "Butcher wagon of East San Jose Market, Alum Rock Avenue at Clay Street (Now E. Santa Clara and 19th St.) John Holland proprietor. Wagons such as this brought the butcher shop right to the doors of rural residents and customers living on the outskirts of town. Photo taken about 1907. Customers joked about the clouds of flies that used to pursue these wagons."
