On January 1, 1910, the Commercial and Savings Bank of San Jose became the first branch of Bank of America, then the Bank of Italy, outside of San Francisco. This photograph, taken the same year, is from the collection of Mr. Peter Avenali, whose father -- Ettore Avenali -- is shown at the center of the picture."
