In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. B, leaf 24.
A bird's eye view of Kay Street on the right which leads diagonally into the distance; on the left the view is of a number of roofs of buildings; on the third building is the sign "WAVERYLY HOUSE MEALS 25 CTS"; further down on the left is another sign "PAINTING"; on the right side of the dirst street the wooden sidewalk can be seen with roofs held up by wooden uprights.
Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"In the picture, Waveryly House", erected in 1855...Burned down shortly after this picture was taken. Old Sacramento Union Building, (bldg on right, 4 windows) erected in 1861."
