Photograph of a lithograph (created by Henry C. Eno) of Samuel Emmons Hollister (1817-1876) fighting with a bear, in a famous encounter in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The inscription on the original lithograph reads "S. E. Hollister, the Great American Hunter and Trapper." Hollister, originally from Saratoga, New York, was a California pioneer who captured bears for exhibit in New York.
