A makeshift dwelling, part thatched straw, part wood and blankets, sits in a flat clearing on the Santa Anita Ranch owned by Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin in San Gabriel (now chiefly in Arcadia, California). Another small dwelling sits amid trees to the left, and at the back of the clearing is a wood frame bell-tower. Title derived from Watkins New Series stereograph #4445. Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880. Transcribed from enclosure: "[Santa Anita Rancho. View of Indian dwellings]."
