This Aug. 4, 1940, photograph shows Chinn-Beretta Optometry at 1022 K St. A display window of glasses is prominent, along with a sign identifying optometrists Bolling Chinn and W.B. Leonard. At the time the photograph was taken, Chinn-Beretta was Sacramento’s longest-running optometry office. It was founded in 1895 by Louisiana transplant Frederick C. Chinn at 710 K St. In the next few years, Chinn incorporated with I.A. Beretta. Beretta died in 1919, Chinn in 1920, with the business being inherited by sons Francis and Bolling Chinn. The business ceased operations between 1952 and 1953.
