Helping servicemen cope with the special problems caused by what is often a disruption in their careers is the duty of the military chaplain. Maj. Hal Carruth, chaplain of the U. S. Army Nike Missile Base in Van Nuys, explained it this way: 'What we think of as the 'average' family life is practically impossible in the Army.' He said many moral and spiritual problems arise in the Army 'because of family separation.'"
