Photograph of Celilo Falls of the Columbia River at The Dalles, Oregon, [s.d.]. The waterfalls are in the foreground and are wide and short. Large quantities of water can be seen tumbling down the rocks. In the background, the Columbia River is visible, while further int he distance, a tall hill can be seen. "Celilo falls area was shown in Lewis and Clarks Journals and has been used by the Indians for thousands of years for fishing. Celilo Falls is located 12 miles east of The Dalles, Oregon , and about 102 miles from Portland, located on the Columbia River. It no longer exists today, as it was covered completely when the Dalles Dam was completed" -- unknown author.
