Photograph was edited for publication purposes John H. Francis Polytechnic High School opened in 1905, a satellite of Los Angeles High School. It is the second oldest high school in the city. Originally located in Downtown Los Angeles, in February 1957 Polytechnic moved to its present site at 12430 Roscoe Boulevard, in Sun Valley. Former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley was an alumnus. Photograph caption dated April 11, 1961 reads "Captain Fisby meets his Lotus Blossom in scene from Polytechnic High's production of 'Teahouse of the August Moon.'
