Description
Tamalpais Park School children in front of school. Notes on MVU2016v1:"Picture is of the graduating class. The school then was named Tamalpais Park School."; "Tamalpais Park School opened in April 1909 because of overcrowded classroom conditions at Homestead and Summit Schools. 4 classrooms were upstairs and a kinkdergarten on the main floor. Original bldg. was laong Catalpa. By 1938 a larger school was needed in the heart of growing Tamalpais Park and a $55,000 bond issue was passed overwhelmingly by a 12-1 majority with joint financing by the city and fed. govmt. The school opened September 8, 1939 with 222 pupils. Teachers Lucy Cormack (?) Josephine Morse (?), [unknown], Jessie Dicker (?)".
