Photograph caption dated May 20, 1959 reads, "'King of Actors,' Clark Gable, arrives for the ballet opening with his wife, Kay Spreckels." Gable and Spreckels were among the 6,600 people who attended the opening performance of the Bolshoi Ballet at the Shrine Auditorium. The Moscovian ballet troupe gave 14 presentations in Los Angeles during their tour.
