Description
Photograph of a "native Californian" resting under a cactus at the San Gabriel Mission, [s.d.]. A man in a wide-brimmed hat sits leaning against the wooden base of a cactus plant, at left. He hugs his knees with his hands, and bows his head, as though sleeping, and sits in the shadows. A large multi-faceted cactus plant stands behind him, and in the background, a row of trees can be seen. Photoprint reads: "Siesta! Native Californian under cactus in San Gabriel Mission. This cactus, Rao Lunas(?) variety, formed fence around Mission, 50 ft. wide and 20 ft. high".
