Description
The summer school program was headed by Alfred T. Quinn and his wife Sylvia Dorothy 'Dottie' Quinn. Garfield School opened in 1906 at 7th Street, between 7th and 6th Streets and between Olympic Blvd. and Michigan Avenue. With a diverse study body, Garfield had the distinction of many firsts: the first school cafeteria, the first Parent-Teachers Association and the first kindergarten in Santa Monica.
