Image of surveyors - three men and one woman -- for the Long Wharf with surveying equipment in Santa Monica, California. Sources identify them as, left to right: Fred Strichfield, Edna Orr (later Mrs. Nellie Coffman), Mr. Donovan, and Casper Tyler. Title devised by cataloger based on item and information from other source, noted below. Writing on back of photograph reads: "Surveyers [sic] of long warf [sic] and Mrs. Coffman of Palm Springs fame as a young girl ... she started the Desert Inn..." The same photograph published in "Santa Monica Canyon" by Betty Lou Young and Randy Young, p. 29, provides the names of the people in the group (in description, above) with the caption: "Surveyors planning the Long Wharf." Date devised by cataloger based on history of the Long Wharf, which was constructed between 1892 and 1894.
