Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated March 27, 1963 partially reads, "Love, with complications, led to a kidnaping [sic], a wild freeway ride and the arrest of a 19-year-old youth at a Sun Valley gas station today. Patricia R. Spencer, 19, 8900 5th Ave., Los Angeles, told police she was kidnaped [sic] this morning by Robert William Batchelor, 19, after her husband dropped her off at work. Batchelor, 10019 1/2 S. Wilton Pl., Los Angeles, grabbed Mrs. Spencer at the intersection of 48th St. and Western Ave. and pushed her in the driver's side of his car, police said...Batchelor, a display designer, and Mrs. Spencer had once been married in a Mexican ceremony, but the Mexican marriage was ruled illegal and the woman later married her present husband."
