Description
Buster Crabbe was a winning olympian who competed in both 1928 (bronze medalist for the 1,500 metres freestyle) and 1932 (gold medalist for the 400 metres freestyle). In the 1950s, he was a popular film and television actor, who portrayed such characters as Tarzan and Buck Rogers.
Shown is one of the closest finishes of the heats in the 400-meters race, with Buster Crabbe, in foreground, defeating Yokoyama's teammate, Noboru Sugimoto.
