Description
Photograph of passenger boats on a canal in China, ca.1900. Three slipper-shaped boats are completely visible at center, with a fourth partially visible to the far left. A man tends the center boat at its stern, while in the background to the right a convex slope of brick rises from the water to meet a what appears to be a stone building. Timber and the tops of more ornamental buildings can be seen to the left. In the rightmost boat, a second man can be seen sitting under its awning. the boats have brought visitors to a tea garden.
