Description
Image of the Colorado Boulevard and Ocean Avenue tunnel construction site showing the arched top of the tunnel structure, with railroad tracks in the foreground and the Santa Monica Pier, Yacht Harbor, and breakwater in the distance in Santa Monica, California. Visible signs include "Whirlwind Auto Park," "Albers Waffle Parlor," "The Overlook Hotel and Apartments," "Harbor Lunch Coca-Cola," and a road barricade stamped "Sharp & Fellows Cont. Co." The Looff Hippodrome building with center dome is visible, with the La Monica Ballroom building in the background.
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). Title and date based on note from donor Ernest Marquez written on envelope in which the negative was received: "Colorado Blvd. and Ocean Ave. tunnel showing arch June 8, 1935."
