Two Redwood trees with different bark. One on right side has the typical bark, one on left has very thin, scaly bark like that of Western Larch, or Spruce. It is evidently a case of the old bark shedding off. Trees stand close to road leading from Hann's Mill near Branscomb, Mendocino County, California. Diameter of thin-barked tree 80" at 8' above ground. 180' high. May, 1920. E.F
