Description
An interesting map because it is in Mercator projection. Courses plotted would not be the shortest distance between points but perhaps this was meant to be hung in an Admiral's office. Also, the scale is noted as "1:22,640,949," an amazing accuracy probably not really attainable. "Magnetic variation curves are for 1925." "Small corrections '34. Edition: 45th, Oct. 1925. No. 1500. Price 60 cents. Washington, DC published June 1896, at the Hydrographic Office, under the authority of the Secretary of the Navy." Prime meridian: GM. Relief: no. Graphic Scale: none. Projection: Mercator. Printing Process: Lithography. Verso Text: MS note: 234341.
