SCOC leaders and 500 community members gathered at the site of the Compton Auto Plaza to rally in support of a proposal to turn the site into 600 low-cost single-family homes. Here, numerous residents wave flags that read, "UNO" and "SCOC", which stand for "United Neighborhood Organization" and "South Central Organizing Committee". Photograph dated August 20, 1989.
