Description
Taken in 1925, this photograph captures the first air mail flight from Sacramento's Mather Field. The photograph was also taken to promote a motion picture titled "The Pony Express," partially filmed in the area. A stunt rider on horseback, dressed as a Pony Express rider, watches as the plane taxis down the grass runway. The photograph was taken at the Air Circus, which was put on by the Sacramento Aviation Club on May 9 and 10, 1925.
