"The Manak Chauk or Ruby Square. Near the college and Palace of the Winds. The college was founded in 1844 with 60 pupils and 12 teachers. Now there are 1,380 pupils and 28 teachers. In March 1899, there were in all the Jaipur state 812 institutions with 25,338 pupils of whom 24, 694 were boys and 644 girls. This gives only 6.9 per cent of the children are a school going age under instruction."
