Description
Photograph of a view of West Sixth Street, between Grand Avenue and Hope Street, looking east, ca.1930-1935. The paved lanes of Sixth Street fill the foreground, then recede into the left background. Automobiles are parked along the left side of the street, facing the camera, while others drive along the right side, away from the camera. A streetcar is visible in the centerground on the tracks which bisect the street. Pedestrians can be seen in the centerground as well, both on the sidewalk and in the process of crossing the street. Commercial buildings line each side of the street, from the foreground into the background. The lower left corner of the image is marked "L.A. 708 W. 6th St".
Legible signs, from left to right, include: "Lamm Hotel", "[?] Lovera[?]", "Hotel Savoy. Absolutely Fireproof. No extra charge for two persons occupying same room. Rates from $2.50.
