Photograph caption dated August 21, 1944 reads, "Katherine Hepburn confers at the studio with Dr. T. K. Chang, Chinese Consul, and Preston Hotchkis, first vice-chairman of the War Chest, who have joined with Hollywood in paying tribute to China, great fighting ally of the United Nations. Miss Hepburn portrays Jade, Chinese girl heroine of Pearl S. Buck's novel in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's 'Dragon Seed,' which will be attended by many prominent Chinese guests and civic officials when the picture has its invitational preview at the Egyptian Theatre tonight (Thursday). Miss Hepburn, Dr. Chang and Hotchkis assisted in preparing the list of guests, which included Governor Earl Warren. War Chest officials and leaders in United China Relief, one of the 133 War Chest causes, will attend the preview."
