Description
The Stinson Beach Branch, circa 1948, when it was located in a county building on Stinson Beach Park Property. When Mrs. Angie Gilbert, the branch librarian at Bolinas, moved to Stinson Beach in 1936, she helped establish a new branch of the library there, in part of an office building. Soon, more space was needed, and with the help of the community, a summer cottage became the new library quarters. In 1943, the library moved to a building on the newly-acquired Stinson Beach Park property, per a grant by the Marin County Board of Supervisors. In 1958, the library acquired new quarters in the Sea Beach Hotel. Then in 1967, the library moved again, to the Eagle Building, next to the Silver Dollar Cafe. The branch has been at its present location on Shoreline Highway, since December, 1999.
