Photograph caption reads: "Boy Scouts point to expansion plans for the John Wayne Outpost Camp to Herald Examiner publisher Francis L. Dale, left, and John Costello, assistant to the Executive Scout". The John Wayne Outpost Camp was established in 1979 in Forest Lawn Scout Reservation located in San Bernardino Mountains, 95 miles from Los Angeles, at an altitude of 5,000 feet. The camp features backpacking, dutch oven cooking, night hiking, black powder rifle shooting, and tomahawk throwing. Photograph dated: June 1, 1980.
