Born 21.IX (3.X, O.S.) (some sources give 2.II [14.II]) 1878, Lykoshino, near Novgorod
died 23.II.1936, Lorrach, Switzerland
1896-97 attended the school of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts in St. Petersburg
1897-1900 took lessons in painting from Il'ia Repin at Princess Mariia Tenisheva's Art School in St. Petersburg (in 1900 renamed the Free Studio)
1902-07 worked with sculpture and ceramics under Petr Vaulin at the Abramtsevo Ceramic Studio in Moscow
helped with the decorations for the Hotel Metropole in Moscow
1903-04 contributed to the designs of the Contemporary Art enterprise in St. Petersburg
1905-07 contributed caricatures and cartoons to revolutionary satirical journals
1906-07 worked in Paris
1906 onwards designed and made illustrations for books and magazines, which became a major occupation in the ensuing years
1907-15 continued to work under Vaulin at the Kikerino workshop near St. Petersburg
1908 returned to St. Petersburg
worked on interior designs for various residences
contributed to the "Wreath" exhibition in St. Petersburg
thereafter contributed to many national and international exhibitions
1910 joined the revived World of Art society and contributed regularly to its exhibitions until 1924
1913-18 head of the Art Section of the Craft Industries at the Ministry of Agriculture
1918-23 and 1925-27 onward Artistic Director of the State Porcelain Factory, Petrograd-Leningrad
1923-25 lived in Novogord Province
1925 contributed to the "Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs," Paris
1928 emigrated to Paris
in emigration worked as a designer for Nikita Baliev's Chauve-Souris cabaret and for the Ballets Russes Vera Nemtchinova in Paris
1929 worked for "Vogue" magazine

в 1913-18 возглавлял ху­дожественный отдел кустарной промышленности в Министерстве сельского хозяй­ства
в 1918-23 и 1925-27 был художес­твенным руководителем Государственного фарфорового завода в Петрограде-Ленинграде
в 1925
участвовал в Международ­ной выставке художественно-декоративных искусств в Париже
в 1928 эмигрировал в Париж. В эмиграции работал как худож­ник-декоратор в театре-кабаре Н. Ф. Ба­лиева «Летучая мышь» и в Русских балетах Веры Немчиновой в Париже
в 1929 рабо­тал в журнале мод «Vogue»
