Photograph of a view of San Diego from Florence Heights, ca.1898. The Washington Street School, formerly known as the Middletown School, is visible in the foreground. The bay is in the background, with a long pier visible on the left side of the image. The part of the city visible is mostly made up of houses, with the exception of the school, and there are several trees mixed in among the buildings. There is a flat island in the middle of the bay, and more land across the water.
