Left to right are Irvin Cobb, nationally-known writer and humorist; Hal Roach, motion picture producer; and E. F. Hutton, multi-millionaire broker, in May 1934. The photograph was made shortly after Cobb affixed his signature to a contract calling for his services as an actor in a series of comedy shorts to be produced during the ensuing year by Hal Roach-MGM. The noted financier, a close friend of Roach's, was a witness to the agreement.
