Photograph caption dated January 11, 1985 reads, "Firefighters work to free Leroy Thomas after his car crashed into drainage ditch off San Diego Freeway." Thomas collided with a truck, carrying a couple and their child, while heading south on the 405 Freeway near the Wilmington Avenue exit in Carson.
