Photograph caption dated July 25, 1961 reads, "Sportsmen's Lodge fulfills the function in the Valley that large hotels fill in Los Angeles - that of providing a meeting-dining place for large banqueting groups. Here the Lodge's staff shows how it gets food to diners while it is hot and just after it is cooked. Heinz Langer and Gunther Terasa, cooks, ready a cut of prime rib as waiter Fred Baldino waits. In second picture, banquet cook J. Anthony Gardenas deposits a morsel for inspection by Robert Verges, waiter captain. In third picture, dessert decorator Toni Tameri sees that no diner is short-changed on short cake. Sportsmen's Lodge owner Len Harling noted that his establishment cooks its banquet food immediately before it is served, rather than preparing it the day before or on the morning of the banquet, as other restaurants sometimes do, he said."
