Bassist Howard Rumsey performs at the Inter-Collegiate Jazz Festival held at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach. Rumsey states, "we feel that the festival provides constructive work for the kids." Rumsey, a former Stan Kenton bass guitarist, started the jazz festival in 1949.
