Photograph caption dated August 4, 1958 reads, "Every kid knows Smokey the Bear but, because many adults don't, there are disastrous forest fires each year. Here Smokey visits Los Angeles City Hall to help his forest ranger and city firemen friends raise money to prevent fires. Smokey cookies were passed out free. Proceeds from later sales will raise funds to fight fires. Joining in ceremony from left are Fireman George Lesnansky, John Figgen, Councilwoman Rosalind Wyman, Dede Dyer, Barry Allen, Kathy Knudsen and Ranger Jack Tice."
