Printed on front: PIER 39 - August, 1977. Previously a useless storage area, PIER 39 employed only 12 people and produced annual revenues of $68,000 to the City and Port of San Francisco. PIER 39 - October, 1978. Now transformed into a 45-acre waterfront Specialty Center with 23 restaurants, 105 shops, and a 350-berth marina, PIER 39 has created 2,000 new jobs and will generate revenues of over $2 million annually.
