Connie and Linda begin the interview discussing how the main character is hired as a handywoman and, later, as a grief counselor. Connie has Linda read a passage from the book, and they go on to discuss how the grief group eventually accepts the main character as a grief counselor and becomes a family. They move on to talk about how Linda came up with the idea to write the story with an acquaintance named Jo-Ann, who is an actual grief counselor. Connie and Linda continue on to talk about Linda’s own experience with undisclosed grief, being the grandchild of grandparents killed during the Holocaust, and how writing the book helped her realize that grief could be discussed. They then reflect on Linda’s parents’ meeting and leaving their parents in Austria, where they were killed under Nazi persecution, before discussing Linda’s move to Los Angeles from New York in the 1980s, how her career developed, and the novel’s plot. Connie and Linda then talk about Linda’s writing approach and the people involved in her writing, and Linda’s sequel to the book. Connie closes the interview requesting an autograph for her copy of the book.
