Description
Four batik spoons ("Raab Dlav Cab" in Green HMong, and "Rab Diav Ciab" in White HMong) lie on top of an indigo dyed cloth featuring partially completed batik design. The tip of the spoon and its depth will determine not only how much melted beeswax it holds, but the width of lines it can draw and the types of shapes it can create such as circular dots or triangular dots. Date derived from inscription on mat board recto. Notes on verso read: "Making skirt #1 [handwritten pencil, upper left verso]; HMong: Making A Skirt #1, Lewis Judy, *HMO.3502.00* Summer 2006 [printed label, upper left verso]; L.FC [handwritten black ink, upper right verso]; HMong: Making A Skirt #6 (Photo 35) Lewis Judy *HMO.4082.00* Fall 2002 [crossed out printed label, upper right verso]" Original title from SEACRC: HMong: Making A Skirt #1
