Description
Walter Churchey writes John Jones of Maesmawr, Montgomeryshire discussing Sarah Siddons' birth at the "Shoulder of Mutton" and that Hester Williams was present at her birth. She was courted by a Mr. Evans of Pennant, who was the favoured lover until Mr. Siddons wrote "The Discarded Lover" and sang it on the stage at Brecon at his benefit dinner. Page 4 is a self-cover. The letter is bound to a baptismal extract dated 1818 May 2 and a transcript of "The Discarded Lover."
