Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated March 6, 1962 reads, "Valley College President McNelis accepts peace offer as he cuts cake." The article partially reads, "Pierce College in Woodland Hills traveled across the Valley last week to Valley College in Van Nuys carrying a white flag of truce to end officially a good-natured rivalry that had sprung up over Valley's contemplated name change. The incident arose when Pierce Student Body Dave Holtzman presented Valley with a banner suggesting that its name be changed to East Pierce College."
