Description
A cargo ship is shown docked at the Port of Sacramento in this circa 1965 postcard. Completed just two years earlier, the port was the terminus of a deep water channel that stretched southwesterly 43 miles to Suisun Bay. Its immediate economic impact was manifested in the creation of 1,000 jobs at the port and another 1,000 support jobs created within the surrounding community.
